The Rest of the story by Sarah Dessen

Photo by Josh Hild on Pexels.com

Hi, hope you enjoy my recent review 🙂

Synopsis – Emma Saylor doesn’t remember a lot about her mother, who died when Emma was twelve. But she does remember her mum’s stories about the big lake.

Now it’s just Emma and her dad until Emma Is sent to spend the summer with her mother’s family, who she hasn’t seen for years. When Emma arrives, she realises her mother grew up in working class North Lake, while her dad spent summers in the wealthier Lake North resort. The more time Emma spends there, the more it feels like she is divided into two people. To her father, she is Emma. To her new family, she is Saylor, the name her mother called her.

Then there’s Roo, the boy who was her best friend when she was little. Roo holds the key to her family’s history, and slowly he helps her put the pieces together about her past.

For Emma Saylor, it’s like a whole new world is opening up. But when it’s time to go back home, which side of her- Emma or Saylor? – will win out?

5*

I loved this book! I even think is has become my number one novel by Sarah Dessen. That girl can write a good YA book. It had love, drama and friendship. Emma Saylor is a seventeen-year-old who finds her self-identity when she visits her mother’s family.  The plot got going straight away which I love in a good book.

Good Points-

All the characters I liked and the interaction between them all. I wanted to scream into the book when Emma Saylor dad was being overprotective haha. It flowed really well, and the drama was built good. I have to have good endings in books, and this didn’t disappoint it was a really sweet end to a fab book.

The following of Emma Saylor finding more about her mother was really interesting and as a reader I felt I was a part of the journey which I really liked 😊

Bad points-

No bad points for me! Just how quick can Sarah Dessen do a new Novel haha.

Overall, I would recommend reading this book it has become my new fav Sarah Dessen book and it is an easy read which is enjoyable.

PS. Saylor name win for me 😊

Thanks for Reading

The Kingdom By Jess Rothenberg Review!

Photo by Benjamin Suter on Pexels.com

Hi Readers another book review. I am staying active as possible due to life getting in the way 🙂

Synopsis –

Welcome to the kingdom, a dazzling fantasy theme park where? “happily, ever after” is not just promised, but a rule… Seven beautiful Fantasists- half human, half- android princess- are programmed to make wishes come true, no matter what. But when Fantasists Ana meets theme park worker Owen, her fairytale ends in blood. Now she’s on trial for experiecning human emotions beyond her programming and must come face to face with what she is, and what she’s done.

5*

Good Points-

This book made we want to carry on to each chapter to see what had happened. The twists and turns made this book come alive! The style was different to what I was expecting as one chapter would be the months before the trial then it wold got to an interview style in court. So, the style wouldn’t be for everyone, but I loved it. The character (Ana) development of the human emotions was displaying more the further into the novel. I enjoyed her scenes with Owen as the chemistry between them was clear.  The main reason I gave this book 5* is because of the , plot, characters, style it was written in.

Overall, I would 100% recommend this book to anyone! It hooked me and I really enjoyed it 😊

Thanks for Reading

The Summer of Impossible Things!

Photo by Jonathan Petersson on Pexels.com

5*

Synopsis-

If you could change the past, would you? How far would you go to save the person you love? Luna is about to do everything she can to save her mother’s life. Even if it means sacrificing her own.

Good points- I absolute loved this novel It might even take over my all-time favourite book! The story is really good and planned out. The twists throughout are brill cos I do love a good twist that I wasn’t expecting. I could not put it down because I just wanted to carry on with the story. It shows the relationship of a mother and daughter which was really beautiful. It has love, laughter and romance. The time travel hooked me as I like reading about it and this book definitely delivered that.

Bad points- Nothing I would say was bad! Only the fact I have finished the book haha.

I would recommend this book to read 😊

New chapter from my short story!

Hi, Everyone been away for a while but i am back with the next chapter to my short story. Hope you enjoy 🙂

Photo by John-Mark Smith on Pexels.com

Earlier that day-

Lily was leaving for work when…. a letter fell through the door. Strange she thought as the envelope was blood red. She reached down to pick the letter up, when the letter was dripping in a red substance. Lily stayed calm as she opened the letter and it read; “Your next Lily! Watch your back!” Fear began to form on her face. The next move was up to her. Lily moved to the living room when she saw the figure smiling at her from across the street. She ran to the door locking it and ran to the back door locking that too. Grabbing her phone from her pocket she messaged her friend for help. Lily sat on the floor and waited for the response that never came. Fate had her in its hands.

Snapshot of story working on no title yet ☺️

Hi, this is short story I’m working on to complete and share. Hope you enjoy 🙂

She was running and not looking back. One look, One heart, One chance. Lily was crunching the leaves in between her feet as she ran and ran for her life! No one knew expect her, what the danger was, it was gaining on her. Rain began to fall, drop by drop until nothing. Lily slowed down as the sun shined through the branches that’s when she knew her fate was sealed.

Thanks for reading 🙂 Happy writing

Lips

Hi guys. My poem below is one of my own written favourites and i hope you all like it 🙂 I am back from holiday however, i go on another soon (Birthday present holiday) so i will be less active.

Lips

So close yet so far.

The scabs your picking, the blood your losing

Swollen and tend to the touch yet….

You are always hiding a secret that is bruising.

Delicious, tasty, juicy texture,

Lick them up and enjoy the ride.

They stay closed, how dare you deny!

Red raw blushing with desire to be touched.

The swirling of your tongue brings so many emotions,

It is dark and cold in here let me out!

Meet me at my lips don’t be a blowout.

Come see the taste you can share with me.

Lips so small, wide and large.

The choice is yours do u want to step inside?

The look you leave me just drowned in cries.

So close yet so far.

Thanks for reading 🙂

Five Feet Apart by Rachael Lippincott

Book Review!

Synopsis-

Stella Grant likes to be in control- even though her totally out-of-control lungs have sent her in and out of the hospital most of her life. What Stella needs to control most is her distance from anyone or anything that might pass along an infection and jeopardize the possibility of a lung transplant. Six feet apart.  No exceptions.

The only thing Will Newman wants to be in control of is getting out of his hospital. In one week he’ll turn eighteen, and then he’ll be able to unplug himself from all these machines and actually go see the world.

Will’s exactly what Stella needs to stay away from. But now six feet apart doesn’t feel like safety. It feels like punishment. What if they could steal back just a little space their broken lungs have stolen from them? Would five feet apart really be so dangerous if it stops their hearts from breaking too?

5*

Good Points –

This book was such a good read it had humour, heartache and love. The book provided two people who couldn’t touch one another and the relationship begins to grow making it harder not to touch. It makes you more aware of cystic fibrosis and what it is like for people to go through. It came across so well in the books. All the characters were so well placed and fitted into the story so well. I liked that each chapter was from different perspectives like one was Stella and then Will it was nice to see different views of the story from each of the characters. It made me want to cry (p.s- I am normally heartless ha-ha) so have your tissues at the ready.

Fav Quotes-

“It’s just life. It’ll be over before we know it.”

“I smile at him, and take just that one more stolen step, until we’re five feet apart.”

Bad Points-

I don’t have anything bad to say about this book as it took me on the journey of laughter, love and heartache. It was really a good book and nothing in my view was bad about it.

Overall-

This book is definitely worth a read and I look forward to watching the film adaptation to compare it to the book.

Thanks for Reading 🙂

ShadowLand by Alyson Noel

Hi new book review in the immortal series I am reading 🙂

3* Rating

Synopsis-

Ever and Damen have travelled through countless past lives in search of each other. But just when their destiny seems finally within reach, a powerful curse falls upon them.  A single touch of their hands, a brush of their lips will mean death for Damen- cast into the darkness of the Shadowland. Then Ever meets Jude, a mysterious green-eyed golden surfer boy who understands magyck- and Ever- better than she does herself. She thought Damen was her destiny- but what if fate has other plans?

Good Points-

The new character of Jude sets new challenges for Ever and it tests her relationship with Damen. Roman still up to no good in his twisted games adding the excitement to the story.  The romance storyline through the books so far is well written into the storyline and gives the new excitement of challenges testing their love for one another.  I still love the sass of the twins in the book and looking forward to see where story goes in the next book.

Bad Points-

The book do only have a hint of fantasy such as the magic elements throughout and this is why I give it a lower rating of 3/5*. This is only my opinion as I do love more fantasy throughout the books I read. It still takes a while to get into the plot of the book as the second half is the best parts which I then have to push myself to read further on.

Overall-

This book was good in the new introducing of new characters and the new challenges for Ever and Damen relationship. However, it takes a while to get into the good parts of the book and there are limited fantasy elements in my opinion.

Thanks for Reading! 🙂

So, my Uni exams have finished whoop whoop 🙂 `I have resit in August which is a down point but i am now free for summer 😀

The plan is to read lots of books over my holidays and to review them for you all to read!

Also, planning to write more on my own work this summer to get further with my story.

New poem below…

Bubble

Slowly, it appears to the naked eye

Floating into the unknown place,

The key is to be gentle and kind.

As you never know what you might find.

….

POP, POP, POP,

The delicate life gone too quick.

Just one touch is enough,

For the pain to stop forever!

….

It is clear and hollow, plain to see,

All you must do is blow it out.

Watch it grow bigger and bigger,

Until it is gone forever.

Thanks for reading 🙂
